<*dv_0*>Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail

Hikers on the Towpath Trail near Lock 26 ( Tom Jones)

Where mules once hauled barges full of goods and new settlers, the Towpath today serves runners, hikers, families, and lovers as they find places of peace and tranquility, hidden views of wildlife, and artifacts of the original settlers. More than 60 miles of the Towpath has been developed for recreational use into a multipurpose trail. Ultimately, the Towpath will extend from Clevelands lakefront to Dover and New Philadelphia. To learn more about plans for extending the Towpath into Cleveland, visit the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission website.

Online Towpath Trail maps show the Towpath Trail in its entirety from Cleveland to New Philadelphia with parking areas prominently represented.
