| <*dv_0*> The Flats
<*dv_1*>On July 22, 1796, Moses Cleaveland landed on the Cuyahoga River to found the city that bears his name. In 1827, the opening of the Ohio Canal linked the river valley to the city of Akron and immediately attracted industries and business. The northern end, here at the mouth of the river, has been transformed into a thriving entertainment district which annually draws more than five million visitors who discover a unique 19th century industrial setting where working ore boats mix with luxury sailboats all visible from the large public boardwalks. Annual events include KidsFest and Nauticas summer concert series.
