Broadway Avenue - ClevelandLike its western counterpart, West 25th Street, Broadway Avenue developed as an Indian Trail, stagecoach route and streetcar line. Eastern European immigrants settled along Broadway in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and established the Bohemian settlements of Little Bohemia and Karlin, along with the Polish settlement of Warszawa. The area also attracted Serbs, Slovaks, and Slovenians, who formed the core of the Slavic Village neighborhood. A slow but steady renovation started in the late 1970s and continues with construction of new corporate headquarters and restoration of vintage commercial buildings. Annual Harvest Festival features Slavic and Polish food and crafts.
